World of Warcraft: Forever Confirmed for November 4 Release

Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed World of Warcraft: Forever, a new take on vanilla-era WoW built by the Classic team, will launch worldwide on November 4, 2026, at 3 p.m. Pacific time. The announcement closed out the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 12.

Forever is Blizzard's answer to years of player requests for a "Classic+" project — a version of the original game's first year that keeps expanding rather than being frozen or reset on a fixed cycle. It ships as part of an existing WoW subscription, so current subscribers do not need to buy anything extra to access it.

What's actually in it

Blizzard says Forever launches with three brand-new zones, several overhauled versions of existing classic zones, more than 1,000 new quests, one new battleground, nine new dungeons, and two new raids. The level cap is set at 60 and, according to Blizzard, will stay there going forward rather than rising with future content drops, matching the structure of the original 2004 leveling curve.

A new playable race, the Skyborne, is included at launch. Blizzard describes them as elves descended from Highborne exiles who struck a pact with elemental wind spirits generations ago. They're native to Zephras Isle, a newly introduced floating island that serves as their starting zone, and they're playable on both factions — Horde players get access to Shaman, while Alliance players get Mage.

The old-world zones are also getting a visual pass. Blizzard says players will be able to toggle between the updated high-resolution character models and the original classic models, rather than being locked into one look.

Beta and access

A beta test for World of Warcraft: Forever is set to begin September 17, giving players a roughly seven-week window to try the new zones and race ahead of the full launch. Blizzard has not yet detailed exactly how beta access will be distributed beyond confirming it opens that day.

Because Forever is bundled into the standard WoW subscription rather than sold as a separate expansion, there's no announced box price or deluxe-edition tier at this stage. Blizzard's framing so far positions it alongside WoW Classic and WoW Classic Era as another persistent version of the game running in parallel with retail WoW, rather than a replacement for it.

What else Blizzard teased

Alongside Forever, Blizzard confirmed the name of retail WoW's next full expansion: The Last Titan. Details were limited to a brief teaser, and Blizzard indicated it's aimed at a 2027 window rather than anything closer. No gameplay, zones, or release date have been shared for it yet.

What's still unconfirmed

Blizzard hasn't published a full patch-by-patch content roadmap for Forever beyond the launch-day feature list, nor has it said how the project's post-launch update cadence will compare to retail WoW's expansion cycle. Server structure — whether Forever runs on entirely separate realms from Classic Era and Classic Anniversary realms — also hasn't been detailed in full. Gamingonix will update this article as Blizzard shares more ahead of the November 4 launch and the September 17 beta.
