NBA 2K27 launched worldwide on September 4 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Deluxe and Ultra edition buyers got early access starting August 28. There's no version for PS4, Xbox One, or the original Switch.
Price and Editions
The Standard Edition costs $69.99 and features San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama on its cover. The Deluxe Edition ($99.99) features Caitlin Clark and includes a larger Virtual Currency bundle, while the Ultra Edition ($149.99), fronted by Derrick Rose, was sold in limited quantities through September 6.
Switch 2 owners only get the Standard Edition at $69.99 — the Deluxe and Ultra tiers, along with their VC bundles, are exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
MyCAREER Gets Five Historical Eras
The headline addition is in MyCAREER, which for the first time lets players build a career outside the modern NBA. Five historical eras are selectable at the start: Magic vs. Bird (1984), the Jordan Era (1991), the Kobe Era (2003), the LeBron Era (2010), and the Steph Era (2016). Each era locks in the real rosters, trades, and player movement of that period, so a created player is dropped into a league that behaves the way it actually did at the time — this builds on the MyNBA Eras framework 2K introduced in earlier entries, now folded directly into the career mode.
Co-Op MyCAREER, for the First Time
NBA 2K27 also introduces co-op play inside MyCAREER. A second player can join a friend's career through a custom G League running mate, Trace Miller, sharing progression in games while each player still earns their own VC and experience separately. It's the first time the series has allowed two people to play through one career together.
A Co-Ed City and MyNBA Legacy
The City, the game's online hub, now supports female MyPlayers competing alongside male players in shared spaces for the first time. The REC arena also rotates randomly between five settings, including a high school gym, an outdoor court, and a crowded arena.
On the single-player side, MyNBA adds MyNBA Legacy, a player-locked mode that blends front-office management with on-court play — picking any modern-era player, then earning attributes and badges to grow them into a legend while still running franchise decisions.
What Changed on the Court
Shooting moves to a pure green-window system: land your timing inside the window and the shot goes in, miss it and the shot misses, with no random variance layered on top. Because the windows are tighter and defense has been reworked to contest more realistically, most players should expect lower shooting percentages than in NBA 2K26. No-dip shooting now carries a penalty that shrinks the green window unless offset by a specific badge.
Defense got a rebuild of how contests are calculated relative to the shooter, smarter AI positioning in modes like The REC, more responsive cutoffs on driving lanes, and a new collision system for body-to-body contact. The badge roster grew from 40 to 53, with 19 new badges added and six removed.
What's Still Unconfirmed
2K hasn't detailed the full MyTEAM season roadmap beyond launch, nor confirmed whether further historical eras will be added to MyCAREER after release. Cross-platform pricing for future VC bundles also hasn't been announced. Gamingonix will update this piece as those details firm up.
