Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version, and with less than three months to go, the studio has given no window for one.
The date itself isn't new — Rockstar confirmed it after pushing the game back from an earlier May 26, 2026 target, which itself replaced an original fall 2025 window. In its statement announcing the latest delay, Rockstar said: "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve." The studio hasn't specified a new reason for revisiting the date since, and November 19 remains the standing release day.
Why There's No PC Date
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has been explicit that the console-only launch is a deliberate choice, not a technical limitation. "Rockstar always starts on console," Zelnick said, "because I think, with regard to a release like that, you're judged by serving the core" — meaning the studio considers console players its primary audience for a launch window.
The pattern isn't new for the series. Grand Theft Auto V took roughly 19 months to reach PC after its console debut, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a 13-month gap. Based on that history, a GTA VI PC release sometime in 2027 or later would be consistent with Rockstar's past behavior, though nothing has been confirmed.
Zelnick has also clarified that Sony's marketing arrangement for GTA VI — under which PlayStation gets certain promotional rights around launch — is not a platform exclusivity deal and doesn't dictate when Xbox or PC versions can follow. It only affects who gets first billing in ads.
What's Confirmed About the Game
GTA VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida, built around a new take on Vice City, and follows a criminal couple, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, both playable. Rockstar has shown the pair operating together and separately across marketing material released since the game's initial reveal.
The wait between mainline entries is now the longest in the series' history. Grand Theft Auto V released in September 2013, meaning GTA VI will arrive roughly 13 years later — a gap Rockstar has never come close to before, even accounting for the studio's traditionally long development cycles.
What's Still Unknown
Rockstar hasn't detailed pre-order specifics, special editions, or a marketing schedule for the final stretch before launch. There's also no confirmation yet on whether Xbox Series S will receive full parity with Series X and PS5 versions, a question that has followed other recent cross-generation releases. Until Rockstar addresses either point directly, both remain open.
For now, the only date on record is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Anyone waiting to play on PC should plan for a longer wait, based on how the last two mainline entries were handled.
