EA Sports FC 27 is out now worldwide. The game went live on PC on September 24 at 23:00 UTC and on every other platform at midnight local time on September 25, covering PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It was developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania.
Ultimate and Ultimate Plus buyers have had the full game since September 18 through the series' seven-day early access window. EA also released FC 27 Lite, a free-to-play preview version, on September 25 at 16:00 UTC across PlayStation, Xbox, the EA app, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
Editions and pricing
The Standard Edition is $69.99 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with Kylian Mbappé on the cover. The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and the Ultimate Plus Edition is $149.99, the latter adding Jude Bellingham alongside Mbappé, up to 10,000 FC Points in monthly drops, Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5, and an 85+ OVR International ICON.
Nintendo pricing sits lower and the lineup is thinner: Standard is $59.99 on the original Switch and $69.99 on Switch 2, Ultimate is $79.99 and $89.99 respectively, and Ultimate Plus isn't sold on either Nintendo platform or through the Epic Games Store. EA Play subscribers and anyone who already owns FC 26 on their chosen platform get 10% off.
The Grounds
The headline addition is The Grounds, a social hub exclusive to current-generation platforms. It holds up to 100 players at once and is split into three districts built around football culture, linked by a central area called The Terrace. Inside it, players run Kickabouts, 1v1s, and 2v2 and 3v3 street football matches, or team up with friends in Clubs.
The mode is built around player Archetypes and includes mentors modelled on real players, among them Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, and Paulo Dybala. Alex Hunter, the protagonist of FIFA 17's story mode The Journey, returns as a mentor.
Gameplay, Career Mode, and Ultimate Team
On the pitch, FC 27 ships with dynamic corners, improved attacking awareness, a more manual defending system aimed at competitive play, and an expanded set of gameplay sliders. Last year's Authentic Gameplay option returns as Authentic Gameplay 2.0.
Career Mode rebuilds the transfer market on TransferRoom's real valuation data, adds multi-stage negotiations, and introduces Dynamic Overall Ratings that shift across a season based on form, morale, fitness, injuries, and minutes played. Manager Live Challenges, Creator Challenges, and new ICONs are also in.
Ultimate Team adds a FUT Gallery for collecting items, Holographic player cards in Regular and Pristine versions, and the Hall of FUT, which honours community favourites like Adebayo Akinfenwa and Marouane Fellaini. Champions Tokens return with a dedicated store. EA says post-match coin payouts are up significantly on FC 26's typical 500 to 600 per match, with more tradeable rewards and streamlined SBCs, while PlayStyle+ is now capped at three per player.
The licence list covers more than 21,000 players, 800+ clubs, 130+ stadiums, and 35+ leagues. Liga MX returns for the first time since FIFA 22, and Ludogorets becomes the first Bulgarian club in the series.
How it's reviewing
EA Sports FC 27 sits at 80 on OpenCritic across 32 reviews, rated "Strong," with 78% of critics recommending it. Metacritic has it at 77 on PS5 and 75 on PC. Reviewers have generally credited the gameplay improvements and The Grounds while noting that the grind, microtransactions, and long-running bugs carry over.
Season 1: Ones to Watch is live now and runs through October 22 across Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and The Grounds.
