Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss's open-world action-adventure, has sold more than 6 million copies since launching March 19, and the studio has since dated its first paid DLC for October 15. The game is available on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac.

Pearl Abyss reported 2 million copies sold on launch day, passing 5 million within the first month and 6 million in 83 days. Coverage of the announcement described it as a record for a Korean-developed single-player game. Circana data reported at the time ranked Crimson Desert second in US year-to-date video game sales for 2026.
The company's Q2 earnings report, covering April through June, put the game at 2.11 million units for the quarter: 1.72 million digital (82%) and 0.39 million physical (18%). Crimson Desert accounted for roughly 70% of the company's ₩192.6 billion (about $135.9 million) in quarterly revenue. That revenue was up 247.7% year over year but down about 41.5% from Q1, when the launch landed.
Reception
Critical response has been positive but split. Metacritic lists a 77 on PC and 78 on PS5, and OpenCritic shows a 74% critic recommendation rate. Review roundups consistently credit the open world and combat, and flag the controls, bugs, boss balance, and writing as weak points.
Post-Launch Updates
On August 25, Pearl Abyss shadow-dropped Crimson Desert Enhanced, a free update for existing owners. It adds new cutscenes and story moments, voice-over in German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese, Arabic interface and subtitle support, skill-system changes, and eight additional Kliff skills. A 20% discount ran alongside it through September 9, dropping the $69.99 standard edition to $55.99.
Patch 2.01.00 followed on September 4 with a Photo Mode camera-tilt option, a new dispatch mission, reduced visual noise in rain, and a batch of quest and housing fixes. Patch 2.02.00 arrived September 11, adding cross-save for Mac and fixing a crash when starting a new game with DLSS Frame Generation enabled. Patch notes as of September 15 listed the Mac App Store rollout as still in progress.
What's Next
The first DLC, Charting the Unknown, launches October 15 on PC, Mac, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S for $24.99. It adds ship control, underwater exploration, and base-building. Pre-orders opened September 3 and include cosmetic diving sets for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane.
Pearl Abyss also said in its Q2 report that a Switch 2 version has reached a "playable baseline" and is targeted for the first half of 2027. That is a target window, not a confirmed release date, and the studio noted it is still running technical reviews and playtests.
What's Still Unconfirmed
Pearl Abyss has not published a cumulative sales figure newer than 6 million in the sources checked, so any higher total circulating online is unverified. The Circana ranking is a snapshot from earlier in the year and may have shifted as new releases landed.
The Q2 numbers also show sales slowing from the launch quarter, and there is no data yet on how the DLC or the Switch 2 version will affect that. The studio has said multiplayer is under study, but it has not confirmed it as a feature. Gamingonix will update this piece as new figures and dates arrive.
